Service Description

Injections for pain relief can be administered if you have tried conservative treatments with little success or you want to utilise them as an addition to your current care. Two different injections are available and in some foot problems can be used together or individually. Cortisone steroid injections are used to treat pain, inflammation and symptoms associated with certain types of arthritis and other medical complaints. Hyaluronic acid are used to treat pain and stiffness in an arthritic joint. When a joint becomes arthritic the fluid (which is made up of hyaluronic acid) is broken down and the joint grinds together rather than gliding smoothly. Hyaluronic acid injections act as a lubricant to directly in the joint and supplements the fluid to reduce symptoms of pain and inflammation. Examples are given below of foot conditions that cortisone and hyaluronic acid injections can be used for: • Arthritis • Inflammation • Plantar fasciitis • Neuromas • Bursitis
